Labubu are plush toys sold in loot boxes — you never know which one you’ll get. Naturally, the Chinese broke the whole "random" concept, and now the market's flooded with clones sold without boxes.
Labubu's success blew up thanks to celebrity shilling from people like Kim Kardashian and Rihanna. Telegram's trying to slap on a similar mechanic with their gifts feature, but the entry barrier is still too high — people don’t even open the Gifts tab. My friend heard about it for the first time when I accidentally sent her a Snoop Dogg gift...
Will there be a collab? I think it could be
huge for Telegram and its gifts ecosystem — it’s all about timing and riding the hype wave. Maybe Labubu's already fading from memory? "Strike while the iron is hot", so if I were TF, I’d move fast. The Snoop Dogg case is debatable — people are kinda forgetting about the old man. Hitting the right target audience
at the right moment is everything.
