Our DNA has viruses in it!
Viruses use our DNA to reproduce - it will help them copy (as DNA does).
And in case a virus inserts its DNA into a reproductive cell - the child can get this DNA with the virus.
It's called HERV - human endogenous retroviruses.
And this process has been going on for so many generations.
This is what has led to the fact that now at least 8% of our genome are virus genes.
